Overview

The Senior Accountant position is responsible for all accounting aspects related to Corporate cost centers as well as assisting in the preparation of both internal and external financial reporting.  The role will include supervision and oversight of accounting personnel responsible for the books and records as well as the AP function of the Corporate cost center.  Other responsibilities will include budgeting, forecasting, and monthly/quarterly/annual deliverables. This position will also perform and/or assist in performing certain treasury, internal financial reporting, and external financial reporting function as well as serve as a key liaison with external assurance providers. This position will be required to actively interface with all corporate departments, including Marketing, Engineering, EHS&S, HR, Risk, Legal, Procurement, and FP&A. This role will report to the Director of Revenue and Reporting but also work closely with the Chief Accounting Officer. This position requires working in the New Orleans corporate office four days per week with the option to work remotely one day per week.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee preparation of monthly financial reporting packages including detailed review and analysis of balance sheets and income statements for Corporate cost centers
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly internal financial reporting deliverables which are provided to Senior Management
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly financial statements/compliance calculations for external stakeholders
  • Assist in the preparation of annual financial statements and serve as key liaison with third-party auditors
  • Lead technical accounting research efforts including presentation of key findings to Finance Management
  • Ensure that established controls and processes are followed, including timely preparation/signoff on reconciliations, check lists, etc. as well as periodic updates of internal control process narratives
  • Research and analysis technical accounting matters such as annual impairment assessments, revenue recognition, lease accounting and new accounting pronouncements
  • Reviews and approves the journal entries prepared by accounting staff
  • Assist in the revenue budgeting process
  • Assist in preparation of detailed cash flow projections when necessary to support Treasury function

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • Effective understanding of controls/GAAP compliance practices
  • 2-5 years’ experience in accounting through public accounting and/or industry experience
  • Demonstrated proficiency in general ledger systems and Microsoft Office products.
  • CPA strongly preferred
  • Public accounting experience preferred, but not required

Hours of Work

  • Typical hours of operation are Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. This position requires working in the New Orleans corporate office four days per week with the option to work remotely one day per week.
  • This position requires overtime and occasional weekend work as job duties demand.
  • Occasional travel may be necessary, sometimes with little or no advance notice.
