Overview

The Staff Accountant performs the General Ledger Accounting procedures and to assist in the Month-end close processes for individual IMTT Terminal locations. This position requires working in the New Orleans corporate office four days per week with the option to work remotely one day per week.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing period ending financial statements and reporting packages through preparation of monthly journal entries.
  • Analyzes general ledger transactions for clarity and accuracy.
  • Contribute to the driving of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and compliance across the Terminals
  • Support the integration, adoption and optimization of standardized processes, application tools, and workflow processes.
  • Perform reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts.
  • Contribute to department and organization special projects as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned inclusive of AP related duties

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 1-3 years’ experience in an accounting department or in public accounting
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Excel required.
  • Experience in General Ledger software, (Workday preferred), and office software (reports program, Word, Outlook, Internet, etc.).

Skills and Abilities

  • Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Intermediate analytical and accounting skills.
  • Intermediate experience with MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook or similar programs.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to work closely with others with a positive attitude and a willingness to help others.
  • Ability to represent IMTT in a professional and positive manner.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Compliance with all Company policies and procedures.
  • Good communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Able to multi-task
  • Ability to learn and adapt in a growing and changing environment

 

Hours of Work

  • Typical hours of operation are Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. This position requires working in the New Orleans corporate office four days per week with the option to work remotely one day per week.
  • This position requires overtime and occasional weekend work as job duties demand.
  • Occasional travel may be necessary, sometimes with little or no advance notice.
