Overview

The Site Remediation Manager is responsible for managing facility’s remediation activities related to historical contamination and contemporary releases required beyond emergency response efforts.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Long term planning to ensure selection of cost-effective remedies.
  • Manage projects related to remedy selections, including oversight of contractors. Monitor budgets, bids, and contracts, and support the negotiation of contracts.
  • Review and process contractor invoices.  
  • Maintain health and safety and quality control requirements in accordance with IMTT and regulatory requirements. Ensure IMTT procedures, training materials, best practices, standards, tools, templates, etc. are being implemented by the onsite environmental consultants and contractors.
  • Coordinate with current and former property owners/responsible parties regarding environmental remediation activities.
  • Review and or prepare permit applications and regulatory agency submittals. Track report deliverables to federal, state, and local agencies. 
  • Prepare written response to regulatory agency comments.
  • Review and assess the impact of newly proposed, issued, or revised HSE regulations.
  • Support the IMTT Emergency Response Organization / Incident Command System with respect to environmental, health and safety requirements in the event of an incident.
  • Participate in audits and other regulatory assurance activities as needed.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or related technical field
  • Prior site investigation, remedy selection and regulatory agency interface experience.
  • Previous experience working in industrial facility dealing with environmental issues.
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credentials) for access to IMTT’s terminal locations.

Skills and Abilities

  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills in the English language.
  • Ability to understand written and verbal communication in the English language.
  • Ability to make decisions in a variable environment.
  • Ability to communicate with all other terminal departments.

Hours of Work

  • Typical hours of operation are Monday through Friday.
  • This position requires overtime and occasional weekend work as job duties demand.
  • Occasional travel may be necessary, sometimes with little or no advance notice.

  • This would require the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, bend, stand, or stoop, as necessary.
  • Ability to perform climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling and moderate lifting.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces, over water and not be afraid of heights.
  • Ability to wear and use a respirator.
