Overview

The EHSS Coordinator will work to sustain a culture of safety, environmental stewardship and compliance with all local, state, and federal regulatory requirements, as well as Company standards, pertaining to the environment, the health and safety of employees, and facility security. 

Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate facility compliance with all applicable environmental, health, safety and security (EHSS) regulations for local, state, and federal agencies.  Tasks may include, but are not limited to, monitoring, recordkeeping, reporting and development of other submissions to regulatory agencies
  • Maintain and be responsible for EHSS related programs and plans, including, but not limited to:  EHSS policies, Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan, Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plan, Facility Response Plan, and Facility Security Plan.
  • Remain updated on current environmental, health, safety and security (EHSS) regulations and developments in the bulk liquid storage and advise IMTT Management appropriately
  • Establish and be responsible for:
  • IMTT Safety Management System
  • Facility Emergency Response Plan
  • Liaise with regulatory agencies, local governmental authorities, and local community organizations
  • Ensure compliance with air and water permits, oversee sampling activities, and assist in the development of air and water permit modifications
  • Manage solid and hazardous waste activities, including sampling, analysis and proper disposal
  • Perform environmental recordkeeping duties, including preparation of monthly discharge monitoring reports, monthly emission calculations, annual emission reports and other submissions to environmental agencies
  • Develop and execute training related to environmental, health/safety, security and compliance training
  • Support the Operations Department on EHSS matters and facilitate personnel training
  • Assist in preparation of EHSS budget items
  • Review and recommend modifications and changes in the facility’s equipment and/or procedures to achieve environmental or health/safety goals
  • Assist in incident management, including performing root cause analyses, developing and tracking corrective actions, and implementing preventative measures to eliminate accidents
  • Represent the terminal with outside agencies and customers as needed
  • Review of Safety Data Sheets for evaluation of product safety hazards and environmental permit implications
  • Respond to emergencies as needed.
  • Performance of site safety inspections
  • Manage and oversee the Safety Work Permit program
  • Participate, as necessary, in internal EHSS audits at this facility and possibly others

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science or other related science field
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in the EHSS field
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credentials) for access to IMTT’s terminal locations
  • Record of regulatory, Environmental, Health and Safety training

Hours of Work

  • Typical days of operation are Monday through Friday.
  • This position requires overtime and occasional weekend work as job duties demand
  • This position requires the ability to always respond and be available for contact
  • Occasional travel may be necessary up to 10%, sometimes with little or no advance notice.

 

Physical and Environmental Demand

  • This job operates in an office environment as well as the outside environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers and smartphones.
  • The large scale of the operation and the extensive layout of the facility require that the applicant can walk and stand on uneven terrain, to climb stairs and ladders, and traverse inclines: uphill, downhill, or mixed. Furthermore, because the facility and adjoining facilities handle hazardous materials, the applicant must be able to ingress and egress in foreseeable emergencies. The applicant must be able to work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others.
  • Must be able to work in a confined space, over water and not be afraid of heights.
  • Ability to wear use a respirator and any other safety equipment.
  • This would require the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, bend, stand, or stoop, as necessary.
  • Ability to perform climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling and moderate lifting.
  • Must be able to work in a confined space, work over water, climb stairs and not be afraid of heights. Must be capable of wearing respirator and/or other PPE during some operations or emergencies.
