Overview

The Heating Operator position is responsible for ensuring the hot oil system, boilers, and wastewater treatment plant are properly maintained and operated. This position reports to the Director of Heating. This position resides at the St. Rose Terminal.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain steam boilers and hot oil heaters
  • Maintain all equipment related to the Heater House and heating function.
  • Gauge and temperature heated tanks.
  • Operate waste water treatment plant.
  • Perform water analytical work in lab
  • Operate the Refinery waste water treatment plant and boiler
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credentials) for access to IMTT’s terminal locations.

Skills and Abilities

  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills in the English language.
  • Ability to understand written and verbal communication in the English language.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to work closely with others with a positive attitude and a willingness to help others. 
  • Ability to represent IMTT in a professional and positive manner.
  • Compliance with all Company policies and procedures.
  • Ability to interact with vendors, service providers, and employees in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Willingness to work on an unscheduled basis
  • Ability to learn and adapt in a growing and changing environment.

Hours of Work

  • This is a full-time position. Typical hours of operation require this position to work at night, on weekends, and holidays on a regular rotating shift as well as overtime as necessary. This is a 12-hour position.
  • Occasional travel may be necessary, sometimes with little or no advance notice.

  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Because the facility and adjoining facilities handle hazardous materials, the employee must be able to ingress and egress in foreseeable emergencies.  The applicant must be able to work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others.
  • The large scale of the operation and the extensive layout of the facility require that the employee have the ability to walk and stand on uneven terrain, to climb stairs and ladders, and traverse inclines: uphill, downhill or mixed.  Because the facility and adjoining facilities handle hazardous materials, the applicant must be able to ingress and egress in foreseeable emergencies.  The applicant must be able to work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others.
  • Ability to work with chemicals, high temperatures, high pressures, over water, at height as well as climb and lift. Must be capable of wearing respirator and/or other PPE during some operations or emergencies.

  • The ability to see (20/20) and hear either naturally or using corrective lenses or hearing aids
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
  • This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
