Overview

Job Summary

The Track Operator position is responsible for safely conducting operations involving loading and unloading of railcars. This position reports to the Operations Manager. This position resides at the St. Rose and Avondale terminals.

  • Tank car and truck unloading
  • Blowing pipelines

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in field operations
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credentials) for access to IMTT’s terminal locations.
  • Skills and Abilities
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills in the English language.
  • Ability to understand written and verbal communication in the English language.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to work closely with others with a positive attitude and a willingness to help others.
  • Ability to represent IMTT in a professional and positive manner.
  • Compliance with all Company policies and procedures.
  • Ability to interact with vendors, service providers, and employees in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Ability to learn and adapt in a growing and changing environment

Hours of Work

  • Typical hours of operation are Monday through Friday 7:00 am to 3:30 pm.
  • This position requires overtime and occasional weekend work as job duties demand.
  • Occasional travel may be necessary, sometimes with little or no advance notice.

  • The large scale of the operation and the extensive layout of the facility require that the employee have the ability to walk and stand on uneven terrain, to climb stairs and ladders, lift hoses and squeegee and traverse inclines: uphill, downhill or mixed.  Because the facility and adjoining facilities handle hazardous materials, the applicant must be able to ingress and egress in foreseeable emergencies.  The applicant must be able to work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others.
  • Ability to work with chemicals, high temperatures, high pressures, over water, at height as well as climb and lift. Must be capable of wearing respirator and/or other PPE during some operations or emergencies.
