    Headquartered in New Orleans, Louisiana, International-Matex Tank Terminals (IMTT) is an industry leader in the handling and storage of bulk liquid products through its ownership and operation of 19 terminals throughout North America. The terminals handle petroleum, biofuels, commodity/specialty chemicals, and vegetable/tropical oil products for customers including refiners, commodities traders and chemical manufacturers and distributers.


    The main purpose of this job is to support the Health and Safety Manager of the New Orleans area terminals. The position will be primarily based in St. Rose, LA, though occasional travel to the Avondale, LA and Gretna, LA terminals may be required. 


    The main job duties include:

    1. Assist in coordinating facility compliance with all applicable environmental, health and safety regulations
    2. Assist in internal and third-party industrial hygiene monitoring activities
    3. Assist in developing and providing EH&S training for facility personnel
    4. Ensure compliance with all corporate and terminal safety policies and procedures.
    5. Perform monthly safety observations
    6. Assist H&S Manager with the monthly Safety Committee meetings and all associated activities
    7. Provide support to the Operations and Maintenance Departments on health and safety matters and facilitate personnel training
    8. Review and recommend modifications and changes in the facility's equipment and/or procedures to achieve health and safety goals
    9. Ensure safety equipment throughout the facility is operable and inspected per regulatory and company requirements
    10. Assist in accident/incident investigations; root cause analyses and/or HAZOP studies where appropriate
    11. Respond to emergencies/injuries as needed
    12. Perform job site safety inspections
    13. Audit the terminal Safe Work Permit program to ensure compliance with applicable policies




    Education and/or Experience Required at Entry:

    1. Bachelor's Degree and/or related work experience
    2. Experience (minimum 5 years) in in the area of health and safety
    3. COSS or CHST certification preferred


    Skills, Abilities, Special Licenses or Certificate: 

    1. Record of regulatory, health, and safety training
    2. Previous experience in an industrial facility is preferred
    3. Valid Driver's
    4. TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credentials)
    5. Excellent math skills
    6. Excellent communications skills
    7. Proficient in the use of computers and familiar with most common office software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
    8. Capable of participating in the terminal’s emergency response organization in a support role (i.e. Incident Command Structure)
